Family Pubs in Beer With Space for Kids

2026-05-25·Beer

Short answer: The Anchor Inn has a beer garden on the cliff above the beach with the best view in the village, and serves from eight in the morning. Beer Head Bistro up on the headland has easy parking. The boats on the beach are the entertainment.

A word on expectations. Devon pubs rarely have playgrounds — old buildings, small sites. What most have is a garden, a beach or a park nearby. Where a pub genuinely has a play area, it says so below.

The Anchor Inn

The pub on the cliff above the beach, with a beer garden that has the best view in the village and food served from eight in the morning until late. Busy, and it is a chain, but the position is unbeatable.

Beer Head Bistro

Up on the headland at the caravan park, with easy parking, a bay view and good breakfasts. Well set up for wheelchair users, so a buggy is no trouble.

Steamers

The seafood restaurant in the village, with a Sunday lunch people go out of their way for. Book.

Where the play actually is

The beach — fishing boats winched up the shingle, beach huts and the catch being sold. Seaton, five minutes east, has the tramway, which children love.

Book if you are more than four, and always for Sunday lunch.
