Lynton and Lynmouth Fireworks 2026: Date and Where to Watch

2026-08-17·Updated 23 Oct 2026·Lynton and Lynmouth

Short answer: Lynmouth's harbour sits five hundred feet below Lynton, so anything launched over the water is visible from both. Behind them is Exmoor — Europe's first International Dark Sky Reserve, which makes the sky itself worth staying for.

Two levels, one view

Lynmouth is at the harbour and Lynton is five hundred feet directly above it, which gives this pair something no other Devon town has — a natural upper and lower viewing gallery over the same stretch of water.

Check whether the cliff railway is running in November before relying on it. The alternative is the steep hairpin road between the two, which is not what you want in the dark.

The 2026 display

Fireworks Night at the Blue Ball Inn, Lynmouth — Saturday 7 November. This is the one time of year when the Lyn valley's geography works entirely in your favour: fireworks launched into a steep wooded gorge, with the sound coming back off both sides.

Dates and times come from the organisers' own listings and the regional what's-on pages, checked in late October. Small displays are run by volunteers and can move or sell out, so confirm with the organiser before you travel — particularly for anything ticketed.

Where to watch from

Stay for the sky

Exmoor was Europe's first International Dark Sky Reserve, and early November falls in the good season for it. Once the fireworks are done, twenty minutes away from the village lights on a clear night shows the Milky Way to the naked eye.

What is open

Bring cash

Several places up here are cash only with patchy phone signal, and the nearest machine is in Lynton.

Bringing a dog is rarely a good idea on a display night — see the guide to Bonfire Night with a nervous dog for what actually helps.
