Barnstaple Fireworks 2026: Date, Time and Where to Watch

2026-08-12·Updated 23 Oct 2026·Barnstaple

Short answer: Barnstaple sits on the Taw with the Long Bridge across it, and the water reflects anything launched over it. It is also the end of the Tarka Line from Exeter, so it is the one north Devon town you can reach by train.

North Devon's town

Barnstaple is the region's main town, which means it is open, it has pubs and restaurants that serve residents, and it has the Taw running through it with a medieval bridge across.

The 2026 display

Barnstaple and District Round Table Fireworks, Barnstaple Rugby Club — Sunday 1 November. Barnstaple's display is the biggest in North Devon and it is not on the 5th — it runs the Sunday before, which catches people out every year.

Dates and times come from the organisers' own listings and the regional what's-on pages, checked in late October. Small displays are run by volunteers and can move or sell out, so confirm with the organiser before you travel — particularly for anything ticketed.

Where to watch from

Arrive by train

Barnstaple is the terminus of the Tarka Line from Exeter — the only railway station in north Devon. On a dark November evening, that is a considerably better plan than driving north Devon lanes.

What is open

If it is wet

The Pannier Market is a covered Victorian hall running Tuesday to Saturday — the best hour in town when the weather is against you.

Bringing a dog is rarely a good idea on a display night — see the guide to Bonfire Night with a nervous dog for what actually helps.
