Family Pubs in Braunton: Carveries and Beach Grills

2026-10-01·Braunton

Short answer: The Williams Arms is the family one — a carvery every day and dog friendly, though you must check the carvery times. The Beachside Grill sits right next to Saunton Sands and takes dogs, so you can come straight off the beach. Book at busy times.

The Williams Arms

A carvery every day of the week is unusual and it is exactly what works with children — you can see the food, portions are adjustable, and nobody waits for a kitchen. Dog friendly too. The one thing to get right is the carvery times, which do not run all day; ring before setting out.

The Beachside Grill

Next to Saunton Sands and dog friendly, which makes it the natural end to a beach afternoon — no changing out of sandy clothes to drive somewhere else. Book at busy times. In August that is not optional advice.

The Duck Dive

The best rated place in Braunton, open from 8.30am to late. Early opening is the useful part with children: breakfast out is easier than lunch out, and 8.30 suits a family that has been awake since six.

The White Lion

Live music and open mic nights, an Indian kitchen and tapas evenings. It opens at 1pm most days, which rules it out for lunch with children and makes it the later, louder option for older ones.

The free entertainment

The Tarka Trail runs through the village, flat and traffic-free, and Saunton Sands is ten minutes away with dogs allowed all year. Neither costs anything and both tire children out more effectively than a pub garden.
