Dogs at Babbacombe Model Village: Yes, Most of It

2026-03-25·Devon

Short answer: Yes. Dogs are allowed across roughly ninety per cent of Babbacombe Model Village, with the indoor enchanted section the main exclusion. The site is hilly and exposed, so it suits a dry day better than a wet one.

The short answer

Yes, and it is one of the more genuinely dog-friendly paid attractions in Devon. Dogs are welcome across about ninety per cent of the four-acre site — essentially everywhere outdoors, which is most of it.

The exception is the indoor enchanted section, added more recently. That is also the part that makes the village work in poor weather, so a wet day with a dog is the one combination that does not fit.

What to expect

Four acres of miniature Britain with adventure golf included in the ticket price. Reviewers describe two to four hours as a realistic visit, which is a long time for a dog on a lead — bring water and be ready to cut it short.

The site is hilly and exposed. That matters more with a dog in August than in October.

Getting there with a dog

The road down to Babbacombe is steep with sharp bends. Park on Babbacombe Downs — the highest promenade in England, and free to walk — then take the Babbacombe Cliff Railway, which carries dogs year-round for a couple of pounds each way, card payment only.

One thing that catches people out

Oddicombe, the beach at the bottom of the cliff railway, does not allow dogs at any time of year. The railway takes them and the beach does not. If the beach is part of the plan, head to Babbacombe beach or Meadfoot instead, both of which are dog friendly year-round.

Nearby

Cockington Country Park is free and dog friendly throughout. The Lighthouse café bar on Victoria Parade is set up for dogs. Meadfoot Beach Cafe has outdoor tables facing the sea and stays open in poor weather.

Dog policies change, and the consequence of getting it wrong is being turned away at the gate. This was checked in September 2026 — ring ahead if you are driving any distance.
