Westward Ho Fireworks 2026: Date, Time and Where to Watch

2026-08-20·Updated 23 Oct 2026·Westward Ho

Short answer: Westward Ho! has two miles of flat sand facing the open Atlantic and a wide horizon with nothing in the way. The Pier House has window tables looking straight out to sea, which is where to be when it gets cold.

Space and a wide horizon

Westward Ho! faces the open Atlantic across two miles of flat sand. There is nothing between the beach and the horizon, and no shortage of room — which on a busy display night is worth something.

The exposure is the trade. This beach takes the full weight of Atlantic weather and there is no shelter on it at all.

The 2026 display

Firework Spectacular at The BIG Sheep, up the road at Bideford — Thursday 5 November. Westward Ho! has no display of its own. The BIG Sheep is the one almost everyone here goes to, and being inland it is the safer bet when the Atlantic is throwing weather at the front.

Dates and times come from the organisers' own listings and the regional what's-on pages, checked in late October. Small displays are run by volunteers and can move or sell out, so confirm with the organiser before you travel — particularly for anything ticketed.

Where to watch from

What is open

Parking

A flat £8 for the day whatever the season and however long you stay — so arrive in the afternoon and make an evening of it rather than turning up at six.

Bringing a dog is rarely a good idea on a display night — see the guide to Bonfire Night with a nervous dog for what actually helps.
