Short answer: Sola Bar & Kitchen at Dawlish Warren has a big beer garden with a children's play area — genuinely rare. The Smugglers Inn has a large car park, a terrace and a carvery in three portion sizes.

At Dawlish Warren, under fresh ownership, and one of the few places in this guide with a genuine children's play area in the beer garden. Freshly made food and pizzas people rate as the best around. Highly rated, though from a small number of reviews so far.
On the hill between Dawlish and Teignmouth, with a large car park and views over fields to the sea. The daily carvery comes in three portion sizes, including a smaller one — useful with children. A good outdoor terrace.
Beach-front at the Warren with sea views from the windows. Reviews on the food are mixed — the fish and chips come out well. Reliable for a drink with a view while the children are on the sand.
Book if you are more than four, and always for Sunday lunch.
