Dogs at The Milky Way: No — Where to Walk Instead

2026-04-05·Devon

Short answer: No. The Milky Way Adventure Park past Bideford does not admit dogs. It is also closed Mondays and Fridays, which catches people out independently of the dog question. The Hartland coast nearby is some of the wildest free walking in Devon.

The short answer

No. It is a largely indoor adventure park with rollercoasters, a train ride, live shows and an outdoor falconry display, and dogs are not admitted.

Check the days before you drive

The Milky Way is closed Mondays and Fridays. That is worth knowing regardless of whether a dog is involved — it is a fair drive past Bideford and there is not much else immediately around it.

Where the dog goes instead

You are close to the most dramatic and least visited stretch of the Devon coast, and it is all free.

Clovelly, if you are passing

Ten minutes away and worth knowing about rather than recommending unreservedly. It is a privately owned village with an entrance fee, a very steep cobbled street and a Land Rover service back to the top. Dogs are a question to ask them directly — and the descent is hard on older dogs either way.

Eating

The Boathouse at Instow is dog friendly with the best sunset seat in the area. The Pier House at Westward Ho! takes dogs in the bar. Nomad Larder at the Pig on the Hill is walkable from Westward Ho! beach and takes dogs in the bar and outside — closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Dog policies change, and the consequence of getting it wrong is being turned away at the gate. This was checked in September 2026 — ring ahead if you are driving any distance.
