Short answer: Yes, and off lead across most of the park. But dogs must be on leads around the lake and the outlet channel, the whole park is covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order, and any owner not carrying a lead can be fined.
Yes. Dogs are welcome at Stover, a Devon County Council country park near Newton Abbot, and they are allowed off lead in most of it under close control. It is one of the better free dog walks in south Devon.
This is the part to get right. Dogs must be kept on leads around the lake and the outlet channel, which is shown on the park map and on signage. The park is covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order, which means those who do not comply can be fined.
And separately: any owner who is not carrying a lead can be fined, even if the dog is off lead in a permitted area. Bring one regardless.

It sits almost opposite Trago Mills and links onto the Templer Way heritage trail following rivers and canals, if you want to extend the walk.
Bovey Tracey and the eastern edge of Dartmoor are ten minutes away — East Dartmoor National Nature Reserve at Yarner Wood has four car parks and woodland loops. Ullacombe Farm on the Haytor road is a farm café with animals and play areas.
Checked against the attraction's own published policy in September 2026. Dog rules change — ring ahead if you are driving any distance.
